Awards Frequently Asked Questions
Tennis thrives in Mississippi because of the many players, officials, pros, events, volunteers, friends and families! Tennis would not be in the great shape it is in Mississippi without you all! There are so many people that deserve special recognition for all they do for tennis.
It is very important for the award nominator to be thorough in completing the nomination form. The Awards Committee can only judge on what is given to them. As much information, pictures and descriptions of why you feel the nominee deserves to be the winner the better. Incomplete nomination forms cannot be submitted!
How do I nominate someone for an award?
EVERYONE is invited to submit nominations! To do so, fill out a nomination form and submit it. Deadline to nominate is Monday, August 22.
What qualifies someone to receive an award?
Consult the specific eligibility requirements and criteria for each award. The Dorothy Vest Player of the Year and Powers Moore Sportsmanship awards are for ranked junior players only. Please do not nominate players that don’t meet the criteria.
Can I nominate someone for multiple awards in the same year?
YES! You may nominate the same individual/organization for as many awards as you see fit!
Can I nominate myself for an award?
YES! To be considered for an award, simply fill out the nomination form and submit it. All questions must be answered to be submitted.
Who chooses the award recipients?
Award winners are selected by the USTA Mississippi Awards Committee.
How will I know if my nominee is selected to receive an award?
Award winners will be notified by mail and winners will be announced on website, www.mstennis.com.
When are the awards presented and acknowledged?
Awards are presented at the annual Awards Luncheon, held each year on a Saturday in January. Each award recipient will be listed on the USTA Mississippi’s website and included in the yearbook.
