Seeking nominations from the East Central and Southwest areas for board positions of Area Director

Your Mississippi Tennis Association is seeking nominations from the East Central and Southwest areas for board positions of Area Director.  The deadline for submission is February 28th.


Area Directors must reside within the geographical limits of his geographic area. Area Directors shall be the MTA’s representative within his or her region to uphold the purposes and objectives of the MTA. It shall also be the duty of the Directors to carefully observe conditions relating to tennis activities in the MTA and to report thereon to the Officers and Directors of the MTA.

Pursuant to the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and SafeSport Authorization Act of 2017 and the Bylaws of the United States Olympic Committee, the U.S. Center for SafeSport has the exclusive authority to develop and enforce policies pertaining to abuse prevention training across all sports. 

Based on the Center's most recent policies, the following individuals are required to complete SafeSport Training:

·       All USTA Section staff and Board of Director

·       All District and State staff and Board of Directors 

Completion of the training is mandatory; any individual not in compliance is not permitted to serve in his/her current or prospective role as Board or staff member.  Those new Board members taking office effective January 1, 2019, must complete training on the first to occur of either: (i) regular contact with a minor athlete; or (ii) the first 45 days of beginning this role.  This similarly applies to new staff as they are hired. 

The nominated candidate will be required to complete the training process.   This is an online module with the link being supplied to you by the MTA office.
