Tournament Directors Information

Your organizational membership must be current through the end date of your tournament.

TennisLink has added a new functionality to the online sanction process. If your membership expires before the closing date of your tournament, the tournament director will not be able to submit the sanction application for approval. Once you renew your membership, you will be able to return to the sanction form and submit it.
The first thing to be done is to check the expiration date of your organization’s membership and renew it (if necessary) before you start the sanctioning process. You may do this online or call 800-990-8782 (USTA).

TOURNAMENTS

Junior Tournaments: 10 & Under divisions are now a MANDATORY part of Junior Tournaments. The 10 & U and 8 & U divisions will be played on 60 ft and 36 ft courts, respectively, using 19-25” rackets and low compression balls. All 10 & U and 8 & U divisions will require additional volunteers to monitor match play. 8 & Under play and tournaments are encouraged.

One-Day Tournaments: You can sanction one-day tournaments for NTRP, Senior NTRP, and 10 & Under events). The MTA feels that we should have more of these events especially 10 & Under and Senior NTRP since these are new and growing programs. One-day NTRP or Senior NTRP will be 100 point tournaments. One-day events will appeal to players because of time and money.

Senior NTRP: Senior NTRP divisions can be added to the Online Sanction form, TDM and the Ranking Program. We encourage more tournaments to include the Senior NTRP events in their tournaments as this gives those players over 50 a chance to compete with similar age players. Senior competition is growing, and this is a chance to increase your tournament participation. These can be separate one-day events or added to your existing tournament.

Grand Prix Tournaments: The Grand Prix tournaments are for entry level players in the 10 & Under and 8 & Under age divisions who are new to the game of tennis.  They offer a fun start and instruction for players being introduced to tournament competition.
