2016 Icy Hot USTA Southern Junior Cup
The Icy Hot USTA Southern Junior Cup is a prestigious junior event that brings together some of the top junior players in the Southern Section for a week-end of team competition. The tournament is held at the Champions Club in Lupton City, TN near Chattanooga. Many of the state’s top ranked juniors in the 12, 14, 16 and 18 divisions are selected by the MTA Ranking Committee, MTA Director of Player Development and the MS Junior Cup Coaches to represent Mississippi. The 12’s will play September 9-11 and the 14-18’s September 16-18. The 2016 MS coaches are Courtney Ulrich for the 12’s and Kevin Gillette and Justyn Shelver for the 14-18’s. MTA supports the MS Southern Junior Cup with player gifts, coaching stipends and player stipends.
Kent Shultz, Director of Player Development for the MTA says, “It is an honor to be selected to participate in the Southern Junior Cup. These players are to be congratulated for their accomplishments. I know they will represent both MS and their families with strong character both on and off the courts. "
