Sanctioning Procedures
In this section you will find the information necessary to apply for sanction for your tournaments. Be sure to check the calendar for Southern and some National tournaments and the League Championships before choosing your dates. The sanctioning period is open from September 1 through September 30.
Follow the instructions in Online Sanction and Non-Sanction Application Instructions (.pdf) for each tournament you want sanctioned. You must have first and second choices on tournament dates. You must also pay the sanction fee of $100.00 online using a credit card. Active.com will charge a $3.00 handling fee for each tournament.
To bid on a State Championship, fill out the Bid Form For State Championship Tournament (.pdf). You still have to do online sanctioning for these tournaments. Please mail the completed forms to the MTA, P. O. Box 5388, Jackson, MS 39296, before the end of the sanction period, which is September 30.
In asking the MTA to sanction your tournament, you are agreeing to:
- Use the web-based TDM and update your tournament information on the Searchable Schedule prior to its start and publish draws and results prior to, during, and immediately following the conclusion of the tournament.
- Have the necessary personnel attend the Tournament Directors’ Workshop and the USTA Officials’ School.
- Become familiar with and abide by the MTA Tournament Rules and Regulations concerning sanctioned tournaments.
- Have each player matched up with their USTA number in TDM before the tournament begins.
- Have your paper work in the MTA office within 5 days of the conclusion of the tournament.
- For Junior Tournaments, you must have a 10 and under 60 ft court and
- Collect Medical Release Forms from every junior player before they are allowed to play a match.
- If you fail to comply with the above agreement, your tournament sanction will be taken away.
