Spotlight: Karen Newman

USTA Mississippi lost a cherished member of its family in Auugst 2026, as Karen Newman of Clinton passed away.
A lifelong advocate for tennis, Karen volunteered on the local, state, sectional, and national levels. She got involved with the Tri-County Community Tennis Association over two decades ago as a local CTA volunteer, then went on to be the USTA Mississippi President in 2017-2018. Karen then served as the Tennis Foundation of Mississippi President in 2019-2020, before going on to serve as the Vice Chair of the Southern Community Development Committee, the Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation, and the USTA Southern Nominating Committee.
Karen's kindness and presence made an impact on everyone she came in contact with, and she will be deeply missed by so many in the tennis community and beyond.
