Spotlight: Cole Duty

Tennis has lost a beloved ambassador. Benjamin Cole Duty of Louisville passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that reaches far beyond the tennis court.

Tennis was a passion for Cole, and everyone who crossed his path could feel that passion. He played tennis as a junior and continued his playing career at East Central Community College, but it was bringing others into the game that brought him the greatest joy. Cole taught countless junior players throughout the Louisville area, captained numerous USTA Junior Team Tennis teams over the years, and coached the Winston Academy High School tennis team.Recently, Cole took on the role of becoming the Adult Local League Coordinator for the East Central area of Mississippi.

Tennis was the vessel through which Cole impacted so many lives. His enthusiasm, generosity and dedication to the sport—and to the people who played it—will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts are with Cole’s family, friends, students, players and the many people throughout Mississippi tennis who were fortunate to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be made in Cole's honor to The Tennis Foundation of Mississippi, c/o Lindsey Brashier, P. O. Box 5388, Jackson, MS 39296 or online using this donation link created specifically for Cole.
