NASHVILLE, Tenn. – March 17, 2017 – The USTA Tennessee Board of Directors welcomes Michael Chamberlain as Executive Director. A native of Memphis, Tenn., Michael currently acts as the Director of Tennis at the Racquet Club of Memphis, where he has served for the past five years. Michael has experience as a Director of Tennis, tennis professional, certified instructor, competitive player, as well as in tennis court construction. Having served on a number of USTA state, sectional, and national committees, and on the USTA Tennessee Board of Directors, Michael will be an invaluable asset and addition to the Tennessee team. He will be joining the staff at USTA Tennessee in Nashville, Tenn. in early April.

“I am very excited and honored to be selected as the new Executive Director of USTA Tennessee,” said Michael, incoming Executive Director. “I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to give back to the sport that I love and the state that I have grown up in – for both have been such an important part of my life.”  As Michael assumes this leadership role, USTA Tennessee Board President, Bill McGugin, and the search committee, are very confident in the future of tennis in Tennessee.

“We are excited that Michael Chamberlain will be the next Executive Director for USTA Tennessee. Through a thorough interview process, Michael surfaced as the best fit from an excellent pool of candidates,” said Bill McGugin. “Michael comes from a well-known and accomplished Tennessee tennis family. He has had success at all levels of the sport, and he has vast USTA experience. The organization will be in great hands under his leadership.”

With gratitude, Michael also acknowledges the people who have supported and impacted his life and expresses his excitement toward this next step.  “I would like to thank my wife, Pam, and my family for all of their support in making this happen, and the USTA Tennessee Board, current President Bill McGugin and former President Elizabeth Walker, for entrusting me with this opportunity. I also would like to thank the Racquet Club of Memphis members and staff for all of their support, for it has been a place I have called home for so long,” said Michael. “As I begin this transition, I look forward to working with everyone as we together, promote and grow the sport of tennis in Tennessee.”
